100 years of firefighting is an achievement to be celebrated, so that's what we're going to do.
The Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade is hosting an event celebrating 100 years of fire fighting in Papakura.
The Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed 16th January 1925; Papakura Town Board called for a meeting of locals that formed the brigade. First 'practise' was 19 January 1925, with 100 ft of hose and a hydrant.
The volunteers were joined by career staff on 14th August 1982.
To mark the occasion, we'll be hosting a free public event on the 29th March 2025 at Papakura Central Park from 11am till 3pm.
After this we'll have a formal meal to mark the occasion in conjunction with the annual Brigade Honours.
Hosted by the Papakura Volunteers with the support of Fire and Emergency NZ and our other Emergency Partners.
